MicroMondo (Microworld) is a 2001 research dedicated to the micro-fauna spontaneously developed in a fresh-water captivity environment. The tank (20 gallons) was conceived to work without any mechanical filter and filled with reverse osmosis water, plants (cultivated in hydroponics farming) and gravel (not washed). The aim of the research was to obtain a video documentation about living micro-fauna catching it not under a microscope lens but in a semi-natural environment. For the shooting, an inexpensive video-camera was used coupled with some Mamiya 6x7 lenses placed reversed before the original video-camera lens. The Micromondo project drew the attention and the sponsorship of Intel Corporation and received the nomination for "research of the year 2001" during the Fourth Italian Congress of Aquariophily.

One great thing about working with a 3D software, is that to obtain the final image you have to set a virtual diorama. Once you built this unreal environment, you can move freely the virtual camera in space, changing the point of view as you would do in the real world. So, if you shoot one picture and then move at the side the camera and shoot again, you'll obtain a stereoscopic picture.

To see this images in 3D you have to cross your eyes, an operation that seems difficult in the beginning but that becomes easy after a while. I added a test picture in the first pages of the album to explain how to do it.

During the summer 2005 I worked on some drawings that represent... Oh, well, I'm not really sure about what they represent! They have something to do with the many-sided nature of human beings, the prismatic inner essence that harbours in all of us and that make us what we are, different one from another yet assimilable by the summa of these difference. As we can be wise and reckless, and driven by instinct or logic as, in my mind, I imagine this tangle of personalities wrapped in one unicum where al the parts are connected to form a single living being. From this organic skein, only one particle escapes from the whole: it stands on one side and seems to stare at the chaos that generated it, impassible but at the same time on the alert, ready to move forward on the evolution path if the anthropomorphic mass should becoming uncontrollable. It is the better part of our human nature, the one that rises when seems that there's no hope left, when we feel lost and frightened and disheartened, bringing us to a superior level of perception where the suffering turns into strength.
